- Grammer pursuing its growth strategy in China with an expanded footprint
- State-of-the-art production of high-quality interior components started in July
- Further expansion stages already being planned for new site in Shenyang
Grammer AG, September 29, 2021 – Grammer is expanding in the Chinese automotive market: On September 28, 2021, the company opened a new production site in the economic metropolis of Shenyang. The plant is producing high-quality center consoles, armrests and other interior components for the vehicles of a European premium car manufacturer.
“The decision in favor of our new plant in Shenyang was a decision in favor of our customer, short distances, the use of local resources, fast response times and thus increased customer satisfaction,” said Thorsten Seehars, CEO of Grammer AG, during the opening ceremony. With the expansion of its footprint in China, where it already has eleven sites, Grammer is consistently pursuing its growth strategy in the world’s largest automotive market.
With a total area of around 8,000 square meters, including around 3,500 square meters of production space, the new plant in Shenyang consolidates Grammer’s footprint in northeast China and will employ around 80 people. Further expansion stages are already being planned. The site features state-of-the-art workplaces and facilities for all production steps from injection molding to final assembly. At the same time, climate neutrality plays an important role for Grammer on its path towards becoming a green company: The plant in Shenyang is designed for sustainable production through targeted measures aimed at ensuring waste prevention, air purification and efficient energy use.
Grammer’s appearance at the Shanghai Auto Show in April 2021 showed just how much the Chinese market is interested in high-quality interior components: “At this fair, we presented product ideas and usage scenarios for interiors in future mobility concepts, including 3D glass applications, a multifunctional center console and an audio headrest. Never before had we attracted so many interested trade visitors, received such positive feedback or had such intensive exchange with our customers on Grammer’s proposed solutions,” said Seehars.
